- Water Department Assistant (Utility Billing)
Description
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Public Service Director, serves as the primary point of contact for the Water Department office, responding to routine and complex resident or contractor inquiries and assisting the public with a broad range of issues, as needed, and facilitates the water and sewer utility billing processes.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assists in the day-to-day operations of the Water Department financial aspects.
- Handles questions and issues with residents and contractors in-person, by phone or via email.
- Enters and maintains data related to the water and sanitary billing and projects within the department.
- Prepares monthly reports relevant to the Water and Sewer Department.
- Facilitates payment assistance programs with the residents and the program coordinators.
- Arranges payment plans for residents with needs.
- Prepares invoices for all Water and Sewer charges.
- Approves all ACH disbursements for Payroll to insurances.
- Manages the water billing software.
- Assists with all State and Federal Regulations related to Water and Sewer
- Helps set up paperless billing accounts for customers.
- Responsible for completing special projects, as needed.
- Any other duty as directed by the Public Service Director or Deputy Public Service Director.

Requirements
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to legally work in the United States.
- Previous utility billing experience preferred.
- Previous experience working with BS&A software is preferred.
- Previous accounting experience preferred.

- Must be flexible for occasional work on special projects outside of normal business hours.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form; to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in or from standardized situations.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure; to perform the four operations with like or common decimal fractions.
- Ability to draft reports with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech.
- Ability to use office equipment such as personal computer, telephone, printer/copier/scanner, fax machine, etc.
