Assistant/Associate Professor – AI and Society
School of Computing, Binghamton University (SUNY)
Start Date: September 1, 2026
The School of Computing invites applications for a tenure-track positions at the Assistant and Associate Professor level in AI and Society. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:
AI Safety & Trustworthiness: Adversarial AI, platform integrity, bot detection, and robust/secure AI systems
Computational Social Science & Online Harms: Analysis of online communities, toxicity, hate speech, harassment, and radicalization.
Misinformation & Information Integrity: Detection of coordinated information operations, generative AI misuse, and interventions to improve information ecosystems.
AI Systems & Societal Impact: Bias, fairness, accountability, and the effects of AI in domains such as healthcare and critical infrastructure.
ML for Social Computing: Scalable ML for social media analysis, NLP for moderation, and large-scale behavioral data mining.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Ph. D. in computer science or a related field by September 1, 2026
- Demonstrated research record
Preferred Qualifications
- College-level teaching experience
- Teaching or educational experience in a U.S. setting
