- Qualified Dental Assistant - Bilingual
Description
To assist in the performance of quality, caring clinical dentistry; to become adept at assigned clinical procedures; to aid the doctor smoothly and unobtrusively. Perform clinical and technical procedures under the supervision of a licensed dentist. The QDA gets the patient ready, prepares the operatory and equipment, and assists the doctor during examinations and treatment. Maintain awareness of the comfort and safety needs of patients. Maintain equipment and inventory. Performs sterilization and ensures the process meets OSHA and CDC standards. Adheres to all required OSHA and health regulations.
General Functions and Responsibilities:
Review medical history, progress from the previous visit, if applicable, and the scheduled treatment plan with each patient
Seating patients, performing initial setup, and maintaining timely communication with the provider on patient status
Assist the doctor by passing instruments, aspirating intraoral fluids, mixing materials, and medicaments
Record treatment rendered in the patient's chart and charge out all procedures
Escort patients to the business area for financial follow-up and rescheduling
Monitor incoming and outgoing lab cases
Schedule patients as needed
Maintaining inventory control in the operators where treatment is rendered by the provider
Placement and removal of materials for the isolation of the dentition, provided that the material is not retained by the dentition
Taking impressions for study models or diagnostic casts,
Applying topical anesthesia
Take, process, and mount X-rays, utilizing radiation safety protocols
Take impressions for space maintainers, orthodontic appliances, and occlusal guards
Follow infection control practices at all times
Perform instrument cleaning and sterilization according to APIC, OSHA, and BMS guidelines
Requirements
Education:
High School Diploma
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:
Certified Dental Assistant
Maryland Radiation License (DRT)
BLS
Experience:
2 years in the dental profession
2 years of dental software experience
