Physician – Clinical Services and Medical Education

The Physician will provide a full spectrum of medical services consistent with the clinical privileges granted by Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, Fort Hood, Texas. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive patient evaluations, establishing diagnoses, developing and implementing treatment plans, prescribing appropriate therapies, and delivering high-quality, evidence-based medical care within the scope of the physician's education, training, experience, and approved clinical privileges.
As a member of a leading military teaching facility, the Physician will play an integral role in clinical education by directing, supervising, mentoring, and instructing physicians, residents, medical students, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. The position requires demonstrated technical and clinical expertise, as well as a commitment to fostering professional development through formal lectures, bedside teaching, clinical mentorship, and participation in continuing education and in-service training programs for clinical staff.
The Physician will ensure all patient care and educational activities are conducted in accordance with federal regulations, Department of Defense policies, established clinical practice guidelines, professional standards, and evidence-based protocols.
Clinical services may be provided in one or more of the following specialties, depending on the physician's qualifications and granted privileges:
Cardiology
Family Medicine
Gastroenterology
Internal Medicine
Neurology
Pediatrics
Other primary care and specialty practice areas as assigned

Requirements
Board Certification- Board Certified in Cardiology
Experience- Shall possess a minimum of three (3) years of postresidency
clinical experience within the last four (4) years providing direct patient care
in the field of cardiology. Experience must reflect recent hands-on practice managing
a full spectrum of cardiovascular conditions in accordance with current clinical
standards. Background shall demonstrate competency in both inpatient and outpatient
cardiology settings.
Provide inpatient consultation during normal duty hours:
- May be used as hybrid physician with both inpatient and outpatient duties, as determined by Department Chief.
- Exercise considerable judgement in the selection and performance of general cardiology (non-invasive and non-interventional).
- Must work independently with methods and practices of the cardiovascular disease medical profession.
- Performs duties as a physician and consultant in cardiovascular medicine with emphasis on problems of marked complexity.
- Performs inpatient and outpatient cardiovascular consultation services.
- Evaluate and manage cardiology consults.
- Interprets chemical stress and exercise of echocardiography interpretation, trans-thoracic echocardiogram interpretation, cardiac computed
topography (CT), MRI imaging, electrocardiogram interpretation, Holter monitor interpretation and exercise, and chemical stress treadmill testing with and without nuclear perfusion. - Teaches and instructs a health care team comprised of, but not limited to, other physicians, students, volunteers, etc. on the most recent

- Uner the guidance of the Department Chief, perform profiles and referrals to Medical Evaluation Boards.
