Manager – Inpatient Clinical Coding

MaineHealth is seeking a Manager of Inpatient Clinical Coding to lead a high-performing team responsible for accurate and timely inpatient coding across our integrated healthcare system. In this leadership role, you'll oversee inpatient coding operations, drive process improvement initiatives, support coding quality and regulatory compliance, and partner closely with Revenue Cycle, Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI), Finance, and Clinical leaders to ensure accurate reimbursement and data integrity.
What You'll Do
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of inpatient coding professionals.
- Oversee coding productivity, quality, and accuracy standards.
- Ensure compliance with ICD-10-CM/PCS, CMS regulations, and coding guidelines.
- Monitor key performance metrics and implement process improvements.
- Collaborate with CDI, Revenue Cycle, Finance, and operational leaders on coding initiatives and regulatory updates.
- Support audits, education, and continuous improvement efforts to maintain coding excellence.
What You'll Bring
- Extensive inpatient facility coding experience.
- Leadership or supervisory experience in Health Information Management (HIM), coding, or revenue cycle operations.
- Deep knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS coding, DRG assignment, and reimbursement methodologies.
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Relevant coding credential(s) such as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or equivalent preferred.
