Position: Learn to Skate Assistant/Skate Monitor
Rate: $16.50/hour

As a Skate Assistant, you will be responsible for fitting and renting skating equipment and monitoring public skating sessions to ensure a safe environment for all. Ensure that all skaters follow the rules and be able to communicate with children and adults.
- Responsible for greeting patrons and renting out skates.
- Ensure the safety of recreational ice users by monitoring safe entry and exit of skaters, controlling the flow of skaters, and on-ice behavior.
- Set up and/or take down rooms as necessary; set up tables and chairs etc.
- Ensure that facility rules and safety standards are followed and assists in emergency situations such as evacuations, medical emergencies, suspicious behavior or activity, etc.
- May perform routine maintenance as necessary, i.e., trash removal, sweep and mop lobby area and locker rooms; stock locker/bathroom supplies; report building maintenance requirements.
- Attend and participate ALL staff meetings, trainings, and orientations.
- Attend work on a regular, reliable and punctual basis; subs for co-workers when available; is responsible for securing substitutes for shifts unable to work.
- Ensure that appropriate equipment is available for classes and events; set up and take down equipment. Completes preventative maintenance by inspecting equipment on a regular basis.
- Provide a safe learning environment and ensure participant safety by keeping students in line of vision at all times/never turn back on class
- Administer First Aid; assist in emergency medical situations. Completes Accident/Incident report.
- Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner.
- Correct or inform supervisor of any facility hazards; communicate issues/complaints to supervisor as needed.
Requirements
Required Experience
- Work experience involving assisting the public.
- Flexibility to work on weekends.
- Must be at least 16 years of age at the time of application.
- Must be proficient ice skater including the ability to skate forward, backward, and stop proficiently.
