Description
OverviewThe Lead Assistant Golf Professional serves as the senior member of the Assistant Professional Staff at Chechessee Creek Club's 18-hole Coore and Crenshaw course. Reporting directly to the Head Golf Professional, this role is responsible for supporting daily golf operations, delivering an exceptional member and guest experience, and assisting in the oversight of tournament programming and daily operation. The Lead Assistant Golf Professional works in close collaboration with the Merchandise Manager to ensure a seamless, cohesive experience across golf shop operations and member programming.
Experience Required
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; able to interact professionally with members, guests, and staff at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills with proficiency in golf management software (tee sheet systems, GHIN, POS).
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a golf operations role at a private club or comparable facility.
- Professional appearance, demeanor, and conduct consistent with the standards of a premier private club.
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays, and early mornings.
Essential Responsibilities
Golf Operations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for members and guests in the absence of the Head Golf Professional; provide exceptional, personalized service at all times.
- Maintain a high level of visibility and accessibility throughout the club and on the course.
- Oversee tee time management; communicate relevant course conditions, pace-of-play expectations, and scheduling information to members and guests.
- Perform daily opening and closing procedures for the Golf Shop, including balancing petty cash and caddie bank.
- Manage all daily administrative functions: player check-in, fee collection, starting time management, and pace-of-play oversight.
- Communicate regularly with the Head Golf Professional regarding operational priorities, member feedback, and staff assignments.
- Maintain a clean, organized Golf Shop, office, and stockroom in accordance with Club standards.
- Assist in scheduling Assistant Golf Professionals; provide daily and weekly task assignments and ensure timely completion.
Tournament Operations
- Assist in overseeing all aspects of tournament and event coordination from planning through execution.
- Support the Head Golf Professional in scheduling and promoting club events and member competitions.
- Manage the tournament tee sheet; maintain accurate records for all groups and events.
- Assist in generating and distributing a monthly calendar of golf events; collaborate with the Merchandise Manager to coordinate fitting events and drive member participation.
- Partner with the Merchandise Manager to promote events, support logo merchandise sales, and align golf services around key programming.
- Communicate tournament details, critical dates, and course closures to members, groups, and outside guests in a timely manner.
- Coordinate golfer registration for all main course tournaments and member events.
- Maintain and monitor the club's GHIN handicap system.
Collaborative Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Merchandise Manager on golf shop inventory, member fitting events, apparel promotions, and merchandise display standards.
- Assist in receiving, tagging, and displaying new merchandise in coordination with the Merchandise Manager.
- Coordinate with the Director of Outside Operations (as applicable) to ensure cart fleet readiness, range operations, and outside staff are aligned with the daily tee sheet and event schedule.
- Support cross-departmental communication and programming initiatives as directed by the Head Golf Professional.
