About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for an Urgent Care Physician to join our busy and thriving Accident and Medical Clinic based at Kenepuru Hospital in Porirua in Wellington, New Zealand. The clinic operates 24/7 to provide urgent care services to the Porirua community.
This role includes day and evening shifts over weekdays and weekends. There is no requirement to work night shifts. This role is 32-40 hours per week, however part-time work with lesser hours will be considered.

About the Team/Service/Location
We have a close knit team of medical, nursing and administration staff to support our 24/7 roster.
Our doctor roster is made up of Urgent Care SMOs employed by the department, contracting doctors and local GPs. The team is supported by a nursing team, including two nurse practitioners, led by a Charge Nurse Manager for the department and a Practice Administrator.
The clinic supports the northern corridor of the Capital Coast catchment area, in particular the Porirua community. We are passionate about serving the local community and assisting with avoiding ED presentations where clinically appropriate and providing after hours medical care where needed. This includes utilisation of on-site laboratory and radiology facilities (including CT for limited indications), POCUS, observation space and on-site urgent care led fracture clinic.

Further north, the Kpiti Coast is approximately 40-60 minutes from Wellington and is renowned for its beautiful beaches, relaxed lifestyle, growing town centres, and strong appeal to families, professionals, and retirees seeking more space while maintaining access to the capital.
About you
You will:
- be vocationally registered in Urgent Care with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ), or Senior Urgent Care registrars nearing fellowship completion will also be considered
- FRNZCUC OR equivalent qualification and be able to register for vocational registration with the MCNZ
- work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
- be able to provide consistently high standards of medical care
- have relevant experience and training.
