Full job description
Seeking an experienced Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide services to special needs children ages 2.9 - 5 in the Joan Fenichel Therapeutic Nursery. This is a full time position (5 days/week). The COTA will work under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist. COTA will evaluate and provide therapy services to children with intellectual and developmental disabilities; keep up-to-date records, conduct assessments as needed and participate in team meetings and parent training.
Responsibilities and Duties, included but not limited to:
- Implement the therapeutic program prescribed by the occupational therapist.
- Provides routine occupational therapy care to students.
- Maintain proper documentation of evaluation, treatment sessions and progress of children.
- Carries out observations and assists OT in administering formal evaluations.
- Maintain communication with family members.
- Provide comprehensive treatment to students under supervision of Occupational Therapist
- Collaborates with all disciplines to provide best patient centered treatment and care.
- Assist OT in determining extent to which goals and objectives are being met by collecting and maintaining data on individual student goals.
- Assist OT in formulating new goals based on data analysis.
- Constructs adaptive equipment, self-help devices as recommended by OT.
Principal Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
Experience with students with special needs preferred.
Limited permit to work under a NYS Licensed Occupational Therapist.
New Graduates welcomed.

Pay: $28.00 - $31.00 per hour
