With offices in major financial centers including Paris, Geneva, Luxembourg, New York, Hong Kong, and Singapore, we combine deep sector expertise with a collaborative, entrepreneurial culture.LFPI is expanding its proprietary liquid strategies with a growing Event Driven portfolio that invests in both equities and commodities. We target mispriced assets where value will be unlocked through clear catalysts and long-term structural trends (supply/demand imbalances, energy transition, geopolitical shifts, etc.). Positions are typically held from 6 months to several years. The strategy benefits from strong support by the Group's Investment Committee and cross-asset expertise across the entire LFPI platform.
We are looking for a Assistant Portfolio Manager to play a key role in building and managing the commodities sleeve of our Event Driven portfolio.
You will focus on soft commodities, base/precious metals, energy, and chemicals, generating alpha through fundamental research, catalyst identification, and active trade management in a multi-asset, event-driven framework.
You will also be responsible for :
- Generate investment ideas in commodities through in-depth fundamental research (supply/demand dynamics, inventories, geopolitics, policy, and macro overlays).
- Build and manage a diversified commodity-oriented portfolio, including access to research platforms and execution.
- Execute trades efficiently while managing risk and position sizing.
- Monitor portfolio performance, risk metrics, and catalyst.
- Track global macroeconomic trends.
- Contribute actively to Investment Committee discussions.
- Develop, maintain, and enhance internal models and reporting tools.
- Collaborate closely with the Event Driven team and leverage LFPI's group-wide expertise.
PROFILE
- Advanced degree (Master's or higher) in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in commodities strategy, research, and/or trading. Broad familiarity across multiple commodity sectors (metals, energy, agricultural/softs, chemicals) is essential.
- Strong proficiency in Excel (advanced modeling), Bloomberg (or equivalent), and recent AI tools.
- Fluency in English and French is required.
- Experience in event-driven or multi-strategy hedge fund/asset management environments is highly valued
