Job descriptionWe are recruiting on behalf of a major player in the investment fund industry for an Assistant Vice President - Valuation. The primary responsibility of this role is to oversee the review of investment valuations across funds under management. The position is a key component of the International Finance team based in Luxembourg, reporting directly to the Head of Valuation in Luxembourg, and involves close collaboration with global finance teams.
Investment valuation review:
- Review investment committee memos and valuation calibrations.
- Review internal valuation materials and third-party valuation reports.
- Review investment valuation analysis at fund level and document the review process.
- Ensure the investment portfolio is properly reconciled with NAV.
- Complete due diligence on valuation teams.
- Ensure the database is updated with relevant information resulting from valuation reviews.
Governance and reporting to senior management:
- Maintain and enhance the valuation framework, policies, and procedures, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Participate in new fund onboarding activities related to valuation matters.
- Prepare materials and reports for key stakeholders, including the Management Committee and Boards.
- Support ad hoc projects and general administrative tasks.
Team management:
- Drive transformation and digitalisation initiatives to improve valuation processes and procedures, including optimisation of offshore resources and technology use.
- Manage tasks assigned to offshore consultants.
- Provide coaching and support to analysts and associates to improve performance and professional development.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, self-reflection, and growth within the team.
- Monitor team performance, track progress against objectives, and provide regular feedback and coaching.
- Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a similar discipline. CFA or CAIA is considered a plus.
- More than 7 years of relevant experience in the financial services industry, including prior experience in a Big 4 firm, with a solid understanding of alternative industry operations.
- Demonstrated expertise in valuation methodologies and practices, combined with strong leadership skills to support the management and organisation of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional organisational and documentation skills, with a proven ability to structure workflows, maintain accurate records, and ensure high-quality deliverables across valuation projects.
- Knowledge of local regulatory requirements related to AIFM and Luxembourg funds.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and MS PowerPoint, with a strong appetite for using technology.
- Strong analytical skills, intellectual curiosity, and attention to detail.
- Team player with a resourceful and efficiency-driven mindset.
- Hands-on professional comfortable working in a small, dynamic team.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
- Highly motivated individual with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities under tight reporting deadlines.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and accountability for delivery.
- Proactive mindset with the ability to suggest and implement more efficient solutions.
