The Greene County Prosecutor’s Office is accepting applications for a position as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney assigned to the Criminal Division. The salary range is $70,000 - $90,000, depending upon the experience level of the applicant. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday – Friday. Actual work hours for the felony docket position will vary. In addition, docket prosecutors have an on-call responsibility.
Applicants must be attorneys licensed to practice in the State of Ohio. Favored applicants will have at least three years of litigation experience, including jury trial experience. Attorneys separating from the armed forces are strongly encouraged to apply. Extraordinarily qualified applicants with less than three years of experience will be considered. Applicants must have exceptional written and oral communication skills, be self-motivated, and embrace working within a team dynamic.
This is a litigation position. The primary responsibility of the position is to represent the State of Ohio in felony criminal prosecutions. Docket prosecutors appear before the Greene County Court of Common Pleas. Duties include, but are not limited to, handling case intake and probable cause determinations, presenting criminal cases before grand jury, pre-trial motion practice, trying cases before a jury or before the Court, and post-conviction motion practice. The Greene County Prosecutor’s Office embraces a team approach to prosecution where docket prosecutors work closely with law enforcement officers and victim advocates to properly prepare cases for trial.
The position is full-time with benefits including health, vision, and dental insurance. Employees are enrolled in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System with access to a 457 Deferred Compensation Plan. Employees also receive paid time off for vacation and sick leave, in addition to other benefits.
