The Assistant Manager – Evening Operations provides on-site leadership during evening and weekend shifts at the Edge Ice Arena. Under the general supervision of the Ice Arena Manager, this role supports day-to-day facility operations, oversees programs and services, and ensures a safe, welcoming environment for patrons, staff, and user groups. This position serves as the primary point of contact during assigned shifts and plays a key role in customer service, staff supervision, and issue resolution.

Job Duties:
Provide on-shift leadership for evening and weekend operations, ensuring facility rules, safety standards, and customer service expectations are met.
Open and close the facility as required during assigned shifts.
Serve as the lead responder for emergency situations, including medical incidents, evacuations, and security concerns.
Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate skate monitors and other evening operational staff including all skate sharpening operations.
Partner with appropriate supervisors on employee performance issues and staff development.
Oversee all programming taking place during assigned shifts, including Learn to Skate and Learn to Play Hockey, ensuring smooth operations and positive customer experiences.
Update scheduling software to reflect real-time changes to programs or facility use.
Manage and resolve customer, staff, and patron conflicts professionally and efficiently.
Act as the primary point of contact for adult hockey tournaments, coordinating with Tournament Directors and internal staff.
Oversee the performance of the nighttime janitorial contractor and report concerns as needed.
Answer phones and respond to public inquiries regarding programs, classes, rentals, and general facility operations.
Maintain basic facility equipment during evening operations, including skate sharpeners, and train staff on proper use.
Requirements
Required Experience
Previous experience in facility operations, recreation management, or customer service leadership preferred
Ability to supervise staff and make sound decisions independently during evening operations
Strong customer service, conflict resolution, and communication skills
Ability to respond calmly and effectively during emergency situations
Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
Knowledge of ice arena operations or recreational facilities preferred (US Ice Rinks certifications preferred)
