Position Summary
Royal New Kent Golf Club is seeking an energetic, hospitality-driven, and highly organized Assistant Golf Professional to join our team. Recognized for its world-class links-style layout and exceptional guest experience, Royal New Kent is looking for a professional who takes pride in operations, leadership, and delivers memorable golf experiences every day.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to grow in the golf industry while gaining hands-on experience in golf operations, tournament execution, staff leadership, merchandising, pace of play management, and team development.
Key Responsibilities
Golf Operations & Guest Experience
- Deliver first-class service to members, guests, and daily-fee players.
- Manage daily tee sheet flow, check-ins, and starting operations.
- Ensure a professional and welcoming golf shop atmosphere.
- Assist with outings, tournaments, leagues, and member events.
- Maintain high standards of presentation throughout golf operations.
Pace of Play Management
- Proactively monitor on-course pace of play and tee time intervals.
- Communicate with starters, rangers, and golf staff to keep groups on pace.
- Use GPS systems, player communication, and professional guest interaction to address slow play.
- Implement club pace-of-play policies while preserving a positive guest experience.
- Analyze bottlenecks and recommend operational improvements.
Cart Staff & Outside Operations Management
- Lead cart attendants and outside service staff daily.
- Train new hires on guest service, bag handling, cart staging, and operational procedures.
- Ensure carts are cleaned, charged/fueled, staged, and ready each day.
- Oversee practice facility setup, range presentation, and bag drop operations.
- Maintain appearance and service standards for all outside operations staff.
Golf Shop Inventory & Merchandising
- Manage apparel, hard goods, accessories, and consumable inventory.
- Receive merchandise, stock displays, tag products, and maintain organized storage areas.
- Rotate merchandise seasonally and proactively manage aging inventory.
- Assist with purchasing decisions, reorders, and vendor relationships.
- Conduct inventory counts and monitor shrinkage controls.
Scheduling & Labor Cost Accountability
- Build and manage schedules for cart staff.
- Adjust staffing levels based on tee sheet demand, events, weather, and seasonality.
- Monitor payroll hours and labor percentages to meet operational goals.
- Cross-train staff to maximize efficiency and service levels.
- Assist leadership with budgeting and labor planning.
Qualifications
- Prior golf operations, hospitality, or leadership experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of golf etiquette, rules, and player expectations.
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- Strong work ethic with attention to detail.
- Comfortable working mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- PGA Associate, PGA Member, or desire to pursue PGA Membership preferred.
- Experience with tee sheet/POS systems preferred.
Compensation
- Salary commensurate with experience, leadership background, and PGA accreditation level.
- $16-$24 per hour, potential salaried position
- Lesson income opportunities, tournament compensation, and performance bonuses may be available.
