As Hickory Hills Country Club celebrates its Centennial Year in 2026 , we continue a proud legacy of developing high-level competitive golfers alongside recreational players who love the game and honor its traditions.
The Assistant Golf Professional is responsible for supporting the overall daily golf operation and ensuring a first-class experience for members and their guests. This role works closely with the Head Golf Professional to oversee all aspects of the golf program, including merchandising, outside services, cart and practice facility operations, tournaments, and player development. Key responsibilities include managing events from planning to post-tournament billing, assisting with instruction and club fittings, and maintaining a professional and visible presence as an ambassador for the Club. The Assistant Golf Professional is expected to deliver world-class service, foster strong relationships with members, and collaborate with other departments to promote a culture of hospitality and excellence.
Experience Required
- PGA Class "A" professional in good standing is preferred, though Associates in good standing will be considered.
- Experience at a private club or premier daily-fee facility is preferred.
- Advanced organizational and communication skills.
- Background in golf operations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, POS systems (Jonas preferred), and Golf Genius.
- A bachelor's degree is preferred, along with proven success in providing exceptional member service, merchandising, instruction, and tournament operations.
- A professional, approachable leader who enjoys engaging with members both on and off the course and who thrives in a collaborative team environment.
Physical Requirements
- Primarily outdoor work with frequent exposure to extreme temperatures and humidity.
- Requires sitting, standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, reaching, twisting, and bending.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Involves regular use of sight, hearing, and speech.

Essential Responsibilities
Member Service & Hospitality
- Deliver an elite, member-first experience in every interaction, upholding the Club's reputation for warmth and professionalism.
- Anticipate member and guest needs, ensuring every detail is attended to with care and efficiency.
- Serve as a visible ambassador for the Club's values, traditions, and standards of excellence.
Golf Operations & Shop Management
- Support the Head Professional in managing a dynamic, high-end golf shop, including merchandising, inventory control, and sales initiatives.
- Oversee daily golf operations such as tee time management, pace of play, and golf car fleet logistics.
- Ensure the Golf Shop and practice facilities are welcoming, organized, and reflective of the Club's brand.
Event & Tournament Administration
- Manage member tournaments and outside events from initial planning through post-tournament billing.
- Utilize Golf Genius to its fullest capabilities for event management, scoring, and communications.
- Collaborate with the golf staff to create innovative, engaging events that foster member pride and participation.
Instruction & Player Development
- Provide individual and group instruction, including clinics and camps, to members of all ages and abilities.
- Assist with professional club fittings and player development initiatives that inspire engagement.
- Stay current with teaching technologies and best practices to enhance the learning environment.
