Overview

This position is under the administrative direction of the PGA Director of Golf. Country Club of Fairfax is a Private- Member Owned 18 Hole facility doing 26k rounds annually.

Assistant Professionals are responsible for assisting in the efficient management and operation of the Country Club of Fairfax and the promotion of interest in the sport of golf and use of the golf course and practice facilities, including providing professional instruction to golfers. The Assistant Professional will be responsible for assisting the PGA Director of Golf in all aspects of the golf operations to include member retention, golf outing execution, merchandise sales and inventory control, tournament operations, member relations, budget management and financial accountability. Providing excellent customer service to the Guests & Members of the Country Club of Fairfax is of the utmost importance.

The work must be performed in conformance with policies and procedures of the Country Club of Fairfax, but independent judgment and initiative must be exercised in the technical and professional details of the operation. The Assistant Professional will be responsible for staffing and personnel supervision of the Golf Shop Staff and Outside Services Staff.

Essential Responsibilities

Position Concept: The position will assist with the management of daily golf operations including managing and tracking play, protecting and controlling assets, supervising golf staff, assisting with all merchandising functions, managing tournaments, teaching lessons, and providing other professional services to ensure an exceptional golf experience.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Complete the requirements of PGA membership and maintain an active classification in The PGA of America.

• Supervise and manage the total golf operations in a professional and efficient manner in the absence of the Director of Golf.

• Provide excellent customer services, professional advice and assistance to all members and guests.

• Control and manage play; ensure guest check-in and fee collection in coordination with the starter.

• Manage the total operation of the practice facility.

• Provide golf instruction and clinics that is consistent with instructional methods, policies and procedures.

• Supervise, schedule and train golf shop personnel as directed by the head professional.

• Assist in the purchasing, receipt, display, inventory, control, promotion and sales of merchandise.

• Manage the club repair business.

• Conduct oneself in a professional manner and maintain a professional image at all times.

• Be informed on, and promote all club activities and services.

• Manage the handicap program.

• Assist in planning and budgeting for the golf operations.

• Assist in managing tournaments and outings.
