Dubuque Golf & Country Club is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our golf course maintenance team. The Assistant Superintendent will work directly with the Golf Course Superintendent in all aspects of golf course maintenance and daily operations. The club is currently working through a long-term golf course master plan with Fry/Straka Global Golf Course Design, with potential implementation work anticipated in the near future. This position offers the opportunity to be involved in both daily championship-level conditioning and future renovation/improvement projects.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and supervising daily golf course maintenance operations
• Train, schedule, and supervise maintenance staff
• Assist with pesticide and fertilizer applications and recordkeeping
• Monitor and manage irrigation scheduling, repair, and water management practices
• Assist with course setup and daily conditioning standards
• Participate in cultural practices including aerification, topdressing, sod work, and moisture management
• Operate and maintain golf course maintenance equipment
• Assist with winter projects, construction projects, and future master plan implementation work
• Promote a safe and efficient work environment

• Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field required
• Previous golf course maintenance experience required
• Supervisory or leadership experience preferred
• Ability to obtain or currently possess an Iowa pesticide applicator license
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and attention to detail
• Passion for the golf course industry and professional growth
