Overview

Oversees the maintenance and construction of the golf course (or courses) and ensures that turf grass is repaired and maintained to established standards.

Experience Required

• Bachelors degree, Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from four- or two-year college or technical school; three to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Degree preference in agronomy, horticulture, plant science, or soil science.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Pesticide Application License.
• Ability to read and speak English is required.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
• Regularly stands, walks and sits; uses hands; reaches with arms and hands; talks or hears.
• Occasionally climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, crawls, tastes or smells.
• Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.

Essential Responsibilities

• Work with the Superintendent to ensure that the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans are maintained and followed.
• Supervise and assist maintenance staff in daily duties.
• Assist in planning, organizing and directing the maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs and bunkers.
• Supervise planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turf grasses, trees and ornamental plants.
• Ensure that construction equipment is properly maintained.
• Assist in procurement of supplies and materials and ensure costs remain within budgetary limitations.
• Keep records of annual maintenance activities and costs and assist with preparation of required reports.
• Follow sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors when possible.
• Reconcile and provide timely coding of invoices, payroll and other required documents.
• Coordinate snow removal depending upon facility location.
• Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed, including compliance with government regulations.
• Ensure associates obtain proper licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within city, state and federal regulations; address environmental concerns.
• Manage department members including roles such as Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper and Irrigation Technician.
• Assure effective orientation and training for each new associate and develop ongoing training programs.
• Monitor business volume forecast and plan accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs and other expenses.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
• Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
