Description
OverviewOversees the maintenance and construction of the golf course (or courses) and ensures that turf grass is repaired and maintained to established standards.
Experience Required
- Bachelors degree, Associate's degree (AA) or equivalent from four- or two-year college or technical school; three to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Degree preference in agronomy, horticulture, plant science, or soil science.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Pesticide Application License.
- Ability to read and speak English is required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Regularly stands, walks and sits; uses hands; reaches with arms and hands; talks or hears.
- Occasionally climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, crawls, tastes or smells.
- Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 100 pounds.
Essential Responsibilities
- Work with the Superintendent to ensure that the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans are maintained and followed.
- Supervise and assist maintenance staff in daily duties.
- Assist in planning, organizing and directing the maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs and bunkers.
- Supervise planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turf grasses, trees and ornamental plants.
- Ensure that construction equipment is properly maintained.
- Assist in procurement of supplies and materials and ensure costs remain within budgetary limitations.
- Keep records of annual maintenance activities and costs and assist with preparation of required reports.
- Follow sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors when possible.
- Reconcile and provide timely coding of invoices, payroll and other required documents.
- Coordinate snow removal depending upon facility location.
- Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed, including compliance with government regulations.
- Ensure associates obtain proper licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within city, state and federal regulations; address environmental concerns.
- Manage department members including roles such as Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper and Irrigation Technician.
- Assure effective orientation and training for each new associate and develop ongoing training programs.
- Monitor business volume forecast and plan accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs and other expenses.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
- Incorporate safe work practices in job performance.
