Assistant Golf Course Superintendent Location: Newton, NJ - Sussex County Course: Private, 18-Hole, Member-Owned

Newton Country Club is seeking a full-time, year-round Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our high-performing, tight-knit team beginning February 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated turf professional to grow under the guidance of our current Superintendent and take a leadership role in their absence.

Our club is preparing for a capital improvement project during spring mobilization, including bunker and tee box renovations, and the Assistant Superintendent will play a key role in coordinating with contractors and ensuring work is completed to our high standards.

Responsibilities Include:

• Assist in daily planning and execution of all golf course maintenance activities
• Supervise and lead staff in the Superintendent's absence
• Monitor and adjust irrigation systems as needed
• Apply and document fertilizer and pesticide programs in accordance with regulatory standards
• Operate and maintain a variety of turf equipment
• Help manage course conditioning based on seasonal needs and weather conditions
• Contribute to staff training, safety, and scheduling
• Assist with budgeting, purchasing, and inventory control

Support environmental stewardship and sustainable practices

Qualifications :

• Degree or certificate in Turfgrass Management or related field
• Previous golf course maintenance experience required (assistant or second assistant level preferred)
• NJ Pesticide Applicator license or ability to obtain within 90 days
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

• Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Compensation & Benefits:

• Salary: $65,000 annually
