Position Summary

The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent reports directly to the Golf Course Superintendent and plays a crucial role in overseeing all facets of golf course maintenance. This includes the care and maintenance of the greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and related infrastructure, such as irrigation and drainage systems. During renovation projects, this position will assume greater responsibility, coordinating tasks including turf restoration, soil testing, and implementation of new landscaping designs. Additionally, the Assistant may be required to take full supervisory duties, ensuring maintenance standards are upheld, and operations continue smoothly in the Superintendent's absence. Strong leadership skills and knowledge of agronomy practices are essential for success in this role.

High school diploma or GED required; 2- or 4-year degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, or related field preferred.

Minimum of 2-5 years of progressive golf course maintenance experience in a supervisory or lead role, including:

• Experience with previous renovations or growth-in projects is highly preferred.

• A valid state pesticide applicator license is required, or you must be able to obtain one.

• Being able to speak Spanish is a significant advantage.

• Valid driver's license required.

• Extensive knowledge of turfgrass maintenance, irrigation systems, fertilizers, pest control, and golf course equipment. Paspalum experience a plus.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic computer applications.

Working Conditions

• Capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions and the temperatures typical of Southwest Florida.

• Availability to work extended hours as needed during renovation and peak maintenance periods.
