Description
SUMMARY: The Assistant Principal performs administrative duties, including the supervision and evaluation of staff, coordination of the instructional program, maintains responsibility for other administrative duties as assigned, and promotes a positive school culture and climate for all students.

Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. Depending upon individual assignment, the employee may perform all or a combination of several of the following duties:
- Establish and sustain a school culture conducive to continuous improvement for students and staff.
- Provide leadership when working with Professional Learning Communities (PLC).
- Supervise school safety program; coordinate periodic drills for fire and earthquake to ensure compliance with district, state, and federal regulations.
- Supervise the Student Management Program and administer discipline to students; supervise students in lunchroom, in hallways, on school grounds, and in any program held at the school under school district sanction; provide leadership and direction to assist the principal in emergency situations.
- Participate in formulation, interpretation and execution of the policies and regulations of the District and the State Board of Education.
- Plan for the use of research and data for the improvement of student achievement.
- Prepare reports and maintain current records as required; analyze and utilize the data to lead program improvement within the building.
- Assist instructional staff in aligning curriculum, instruction, and assessment with state and local learning goals.
- Assist in implementing and teaching District’s Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum (GVC) which incorporates the Washington State Learning Standards.
- Assist in the development and implementation of school improvement plans to improve teaching and learning.
- Serve as a member of the District’s Leadership Team, communicating and collaborating with other administrators to achieve district goals.
- Supervise and evaluate assigned building personnel; develop appropriate recommendations for staff which may involve staff development, placement, dismissal, or reassignment in conjunction with the appropriate district staff.
- Assist in supervising, evaluating, and facilitating the improvement of the instructional and guidance programs of the building.
- Promote the school and the District with staff, students, families, and the community; responsible for student welfare and strong student, family, and community relationships; exercise good judgment in dealing with students, staff, parents, community members and agencies, and the press.
- Partner with principal to focus on instruction and closing the achievement gap.
