Description
The Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI) seeks experienced and highly motivated candidates to fill the position of Assistant Director (Collections). The purpose of the position is to oversee the stewardship, management, access, use, and care of museum’s collections, as well as the staff who manage the object and archival collections. The incumbent of this position will exercise supervisory and managerial authority, develop project scopes, resources and timelines, participate in the museum’s strategic long-term planning, and develop collections policy and stewardship practices.
The NMAI is committed to advancing knowledge and understanding of the Native cultures of the Western Hemisphere, past, present and future, through partnership with Native People and others.
Salary: $143,913 – 187,093 per year.
