Position Description
The Department of Radiology in the School of Medicine at the University of Washington in Seattle is recruiting for one full-time (100% FTE) faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor without tenure (WOT) by reason of funding, commensurate with experience, to join the department with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2027. Assistant Professors WOT are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Associate Professors WOT and full Professors WOT hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.
The successful candidate will be expected to provide excellent clinical care, including performing and/or interpreting fluoroscopic studies, ultrasound, CT, and MRI. All faculty members actively participate in multidisciplinary conferences, creating opportunities for academic collaboration and professional development. Teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows is integral to our Section’s mission and is required of all faculty members. Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to, prior teaching experience or formal training in education. All faculty members are also expected to engage in scholarly or creative work. Depending on their research interests and expertise, the candidate may join either the clinician-teacher pathway or the physician-scientist pathway. Clinician-teachers advocate for trainees and participate in education-focused activities beyond daily read-outs, including departmental, school, university, and radiology society service and committees. Physician-scientists are expected to establish independent investigative programs within their chosen area of interest, from bench research to implementation research, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across departments and institutions. The successful candidate will be expected to provide outstanding clinical care and enthusiastically participate in academic work, particularly in research.
The base salary range for this position at the Assistant Professor rank will be $36,690–$42,290 per month ($440,280–$507,480 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. The base salary range for this position at the Associate Professor rank will be $39,945-$46,041 per month ($479,340-$552,492 annually), commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. The base salary range for this position at the Professor rank will be: $43,940-$50,646 per month ($527,280-$607,752 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by UW Physicians (UWP) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization. This position is incentive eligible through the physicians practice plan.

The University of Washington Department of Radiology covers many sites, including the University of Washington Medical Center (Montlake, Northwest, and Eastside clinics), Harborview Medical Center, Veteran's Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, and has an affiliate agreement for training with Seattle Children's Hospital. All UW faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following qualifications for their application to be considered:
An M.D. or D.O. degree, or foreign equivalent in medicine
Foreign medical graduates must have completed the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification exams, which include the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE)
Successful completion of a Radiology Residency Program, either in the USA or abroad
Successful completion of an Abdominal or Body Imaging Fellowship, either in the USA or abroad
Certification by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in Diagnostic Radiology, ABR board-eligibility, or a foreign equivalent
Eligibility for a medical license to practice in Washington State
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
