SCHEDULE OF SERVICES
After School Programs – In East Orange, Tri-City offers academic reinforcement at no cost to the parent though a partnership with Sylvan Education Solutions. To reserve a seat, call Ms. Bryant at (973) 676-5506. We also offer after school programs at South 17th Street School and in West Side Park Community Center in Newark. Assessments – Psychological assessments and psychiatrist evaluations are conducted by licensed professionals in Tri-City’s Behavioral Services Clinic. For more information, call Ms. Caldwell at (973) 675-4484.
Assisted Transportation – Transportation and escort service is provided to isolated elderly adults (60+) to access essential services, i.e., doctor’s appointments, grocery shopping, banking. Elderly adults must reside in East Orange, Irvington or Orange. For service, call Ms. Scudder at (973) 675-4484.
Case Management – Case management services are provided for all human services programs. For case management assistance, call Ms. Cajuste at (973) 675-4484.
Community-based Health Clinic – Health screenings are provided at no cost to Newark residents and for a nominal fee of $20 to non-Newark residents. Screenings include physicals, lab work, GYN pap smears, lead and sickle cell testing. To schedule an appointment, call Mr. Edwards at (973) 374-5101.
Community Organizing – Tri-City assists residents to organize block associations, tenant associations, neighborhood crime watch groups, etc. We assist businesses to develop merchant associations. We also facilitate the development of neighborhood plans as well as Weed and Seed designations. Homeless referrals and food vouchers are available. Counseling – Tri-City provides behavioral health services to children, families and groups. We also offer an adult support group. To schedule an appointment, call Ms. West at (973) 675-4484.
Early Childhood Development – Tri-City offers two locations (Newark and East Orange) for child care services and early childhood academic instruction. Spanish as a second language and dance are standard curriculum offerings. The Newark campus offers services for 2-1/2 - 5 (free all-day kindergarten (no residency requirement)); call Ms. Wilson at (973) 374-5252. Essex County Youth Advisory Board – Tri-City facilitates meetings of the two county Youth Advisory Boards. East YAB meets at the West Side Park Community Center in Newark (call Coach Cole at (973) 374-5101 to participate) and at 55 Washington Street in East Orange (call Mr. Beavil at (973) 675-4484 to participate).

Homeownership and Affordable Rentals – Tri-City is a HUD-approved housing counseling agency. We provide 1st time home buyer’s workshops and one-on-one counseling to assist home buyers to access home buyer’s assistance grants. Housing Development - Tri-City is a designated community development housing organization (CHDO) in the State of New Jersey and three Essex County municipalities. As rehab specialists, we also are authorized to purchase HUD REO homes in our effort to preserve affordable housing.
Janitorial Services – Need office cleaning, facility cleaning/maintenance, call the Night Crew (Mr. Powell) at (973) 675-4484 for a quote. This service is part of Tri-City’s social enterprise.
Property Management – Tri-City manages apartment buildings and other commercial properties. For property management or, if you seek an apartment, call Mr. Brown at (973) 675-4484.
Second Chance – This program provides host homes for teen mothers and their babies. The program prevents homelessness and strengthens the family unit. Call Mr. Beavil at (973) 675-4484 if you (1) want to be a host parent (in Central or Northern New Jersey) (monthly stipend provided), (2) know of a teen mom who needs housing or (3) want to donate layette sets, etc. for the babies.

Supervised Visitation – A comfortable and safe home environment is provided for families in distress to work through displacement and separation issues. For more information, call Mr. Coleman at (973) 675-0300.
Transportation – A fleet of minivans, 8- and15-passenger vans are available for transportation services . For more information, call Ms. Moore or Mr. Bryant at (973) 675-0300.
West Side Park GF Commission – Adults schedule activities (bingo, bowling, board game parties, Garden Club, etc.) at West Side Park Community Center. Call Ms. Lynch at (973) 374-5101 or Ms. Merrill at (973) 374-5252.
Youth Development Program – Adolescent Alternatives provides teenagers who are struggling with identity issues and other behavioral challenges or societal pressures with a forum to confidentially discuss these issues. Teenagers are given an opportunity to go on cultural field trips and amusement park outings. To register your teenager, call Ms. Lynch at (973) 374-5101.
Youth Recreational Programs – Developmental basketball, tennis and other athletic programs are offered at West Side Park Community Center in Newark. Conference rooms are available for meetings. Tennis courts are also available for rent (lowest in Essex County). Call Ms. Lynch.

Company History
Tri-City Peoples Corporation is a not-for-profit community development corporation that has provided services to low-income and disadvantaged individuals since 1966. Community activist formed Tri-City to address the lack of affordable housing in Newark, Paterson and Jersey City. As the agency worked to meet the affordable housing needs of residents, it was necessary to also address residents’ socio-economic needs. Today, Tri-City effectively integrates comprehensive services that address the diverse needs of a continually changing community through programs in human services, community development, housing development and economic development. The agency is one of the premier change agents in improving the quality of life for more than 5,500 individuals who annually receive services from one or more of our 40 programs.
Tri-City is governed by a 10-member volunteer Board of Directors. Our agency is led by an Executive Director/CEO, who manages and directs five functional/operational areas: Family Development, Family Support Services, Housing and Commercial Development, Community and Economic Development and Finance and Administration. The agency provides full-time, part-time and per diem employment to 170 individuals.
Tri-City offers programs from five sites: three in Newark and two in East Orange. In 2005, our Supervised Visitation program facilitated the reunification of 48 families. Nurturing resource homes were provided for 140 foster children, 240 low-income children received quality child care services, 75 isolated elderly adults were able to access essential services and 9 children received Tri-City scholarships to attend Rutgers University’s accelerated reading program. Since November 2005, an average of 2,500 children benefited from recreational and educational programs offered at West Side Park Community Center in Newark each month.
