Description
Maine Veterinary Medical Center is looking to add a compassionate and skilled Technician Assistant to our Surgery team. This role will float between all surgical teams, assisting in a variety of cases, and is focused heavily on sterile processing and restraint.At our Rarebreed clinic, you can help reimagine the veterinary experience in your community. Maine Veterinary Medical Center (MVMC) is a VECCS level two certified Rarebreed practice that has full in-house laboratory capabilities, a fluoroscopy suite for interventional procedures, a helical 64-slice CT, MRI, respiratory ventilator, in-house telemetric monitoring, ultrasound and endoscopy. MVMC has well-staffed departments in Neurology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Oncology, Cardiology, Radiology, Rehab and Acupuncture and great team of emergency clinicians and criticalists to offer advanced services to a well-educated client base. https://mvmc.vet/
Technician Assistant
Maine Veterinary Medical Center in Scarborough, ME
$18.00-$22.00 per hour based on experience
Eligible for quarterly bonuses under Rarebreed's profit-sharing program
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Clean exam rooms, treatment room and surgical suites, vacuum, empty trash as needed
- Gather, wash, dry, fold laundry and store away
- Stock surgery suites, treatment areas and exam rooms
- Clean equipment used in surgery procedures which can include scrubbing, sterilizing, and packing instruments
- Processes specialty and general instruments and communicates instrument repair needs to supervisor
- Set up and break for down surgery procedures
- Sterilization/Processing equipment is monitored for proper functioning and required documentation records are maintained
- Maintains an adequate supply of sterile packs and supplies to meet area needs
- Restraint of animals for presurgical exams and procedures, blood draws, radiographs, outpatient procedures, and catheter placements
- Walk patients as needed
- Run appropriate blood work and other lab work
- Assist in preparing patient paperwork

REQUIREMENTS
- Detail oriented and well organized
- 1-2 years experience in a veterinary setting
- Excellent communication skills
- Self-motivated
- Friendly
- Team-oriented
- Ability to multi-task
- Able to lift 50 pounds
- Basic computer skills
