The City of Fernandina Beach invites qualified individuals to apply for the position of Part-Time Golf Professional.

This is a Part-Time year-round position working an average of 29 hours per week with a rate of $27 per hour and has the potential to be a Full-Time position. The individual in this position will work at the Golf Course located at 2800 Bill Melton Rd, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034.

Experience Required

PURPOSE of CLASSIFICATION:

The Part-Time Golf Professional (Assistant Golf Professional) assists the General Manager with all golf shop activities and outside services operations. This position is responsible for ensuring patrons receive outstanding customer service, which meets or exceeds their expectations. The Assistant Golf Professional is instrumental in organizing and implementing golf events (tournaments, outings, and leagues), limited teaching; along with other programs designed to improve the club's product and services as well as its competitive position in the marketplace.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma
• PGA Associate Level 1 or higher, Class A preferred
• Minimum 2 years of prior golf course experience
• Operation of Golf Genius, GHIN handicap system, Golf 365 PRO software
• Proficient in Microsoft 365
• Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple tasking duties

Essential Responsibilities

The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

• Oversee and perform daily operations of golf shop tee time reservation system and daily tee sheet
• Supervise, Train, and Manage the performance and scheduling of golf shop assistants, outside service staff, and starters/rangers
• Ensure correct procedures are followed to open, close, and secure the golf shop, cart building, and driving range
• Assist with display, stocking, and inventory control of golf shop merchandise
• Lead Tournaments/Outings Operations
• Coordination of Ladies Golf Association Events
• Assist Golf Instructor with Junior Camps and Leagues as needed
• Limited Individual lessons when not on the clock
• Oversee condition and maintenance of golf cart fleet
• Assist General Manager in monitoring and tracking rounds in conjunction with creating golf rates
• Entering and maintaining Handicap records in GHIN Handicap system
• Ensure the efficient and timely submission of all required reports
• 29 Hour work week; including weekends and holidays
• Perform other duties as assigned

ADA COMPLIANCE:

Physical Ability : Tasks require the ability to exert light to moderate physical effort, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.

Sensory Requirements : Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, smell, taste, odor, depth texture, and visual cues or signals. Tasks require ability to communicate orally.

Environment Factors : Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions; at times may work in adverse weather conditions.
