Paintings/Objects Conservator & Assistant Conservator
Our 134-year-old, family-owned stained glass and decorative arts studio is currently seeking individuals to join our team to work on beautiful, historic projects nationwide.
Responsibilities would include:
§ Evaluation and conditions assessment of historic paintings and works of art.
§ Development of treatment recommendations in accordance with the AIC Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Practice.
§ Cleaning and conservation of historic works of art, including murals, statuary, gilding, and other decorative finishes.
§ Documentation of conservation procedures, including photography and report preparation.
Requirements
Qualifications:
§ Bachelor of Arts or equivalent professional experience and training.
§ Experience in the construction/restoration industry.
§ Experience with decorative painting techniques including surface preparation, gilding, glazing, trompe l’oeil, woodgraining, faux stone and marble, and stenciling.
§ Portfolio including examples of completed conservation treatments.
§ Must be able to travel extensively through the U.S.
§ Must be able to work at great heights on scaffold and lifts.
§ Must have the physical ability to carry 50 pounds.
§ Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience and will include:
§ 401(k) with company match.
