Description
The University of Maryland School of Dentistry (UMSOD) seeks a full-time faculty appointment in Endodontics at a Clinical Assistant/ Associate/ Full Professor (non-tenure) position commensurate with experience and qualifications to support pre-doctoral and specialty education, participate in scholarly activities, service and patient care. This full time (1.0 FTE) faculty position within the Division of Endodontics, Department of Advanced Oral Sciences and Therapeutics plays an essential role in maintaining the strength and quality of both the postgraduate and predoctoral endodontic programs.
Primary Responsibilities
Clinical and Didactic Teaching through direct clinical supervision and instruction within the Pre-Doctoral and Postgraduate Endodontics Programs, including:
Mentor residents in diagnosis, treatment planning, case execution, microsurgical techniques, and evidence-based clinical decision-making.
Supervise and instruct predoctoral students in preclinical simulation laboratories and clinical endodontic care.
Ensure delivery of high-quality, ethical, and patient-centered specialty care.
Participate in resident and student assessment, including competency evaluations and faculty calibration activities.
Contribute to postgraduate seminars, case conferences, literature review sessions, and board-style discussions.
Deliver lectures in predoctoral endodontic didactic courses.
Assist with curriculum development and integration of contemporary evidence-based endodontics.
Support assessment and continuous improvement of student and resident learning outcomes.
Collaboration with colleagues, students, and faculty across divisions in support of academic and interprofessional development.
Participate in scholarly activity
Contribute service to the activities of the Division, Department, School of Dentistry, and University.
Engagement in professional organizations supporting professional development.
Participate in community outreach and support clinical care within the community.
Requirements
Qualifications
Required: DDS or DMD degree (or equivalent); completion of an ADA-accredited Endodontics residency program; Board Certified by the American Board of Endodontics, or actively pursuing board certification; eligibility for dental licensure in the State of Maryland.
Preferred: Demonstrated excellence in clinical endodontic practice; experience teaching in postgraduate and predoctoral dental education, including simulation laboratory instruction; strong mentorship, communication, and organizational skills; demonstrated commitment to specialty education and academic dentistry.

Hiring range: $135,000 - $195,000 per year (depending on academic rank and commensurate with education and experience).
