Veterinary Assistant - Surgery -Full Time
Veterinary Surgical Centers in Vienna, VA
$20-22 hourly pay rate
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Assisting our board-certified surgeons and specialty team during care and surgical procedures
Taking patient histories, monitoring vitals, and performing patient check-in and discharge
Performing in-hospital laboratory procedures and preparing specimens for outside laboratories
Monitoring anesthesia and supporting pre- and post-operative patient care
Performing surgical prep including shaving, sterile scrubbing, and instrument setup
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records including treatment sheets and medication logs
Performing and/or assisting with diagnostic imaging, including radiographs and digital imaging
Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe hospital environment
Delivering excellent customer service and professional communication to clients and referring veterinarians
Supporting client education on discharge instructions, medications, and follow-up care

REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 2 years of veterinary hospital experience required
Hands-on experience with anesthesia monitoring is required
Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with multi-parameter monitoring equipment, as well as, inhalant and injectable anesthetic agents
Experience in specialty or surgical veterinary medicine is strongly preferred
Candidates in progress toward credentialing are highly encouraged to apply
Strong communication skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Ability to handle a fast-paced, high-stress environment with professionalism and positivity
Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods
