SUNY College of Technology, Alfred State College, seeks qualified applicants for a ten-month tenure track Assistant Professor position in the Mechanical Engineering Technology program starting August 2026. This position focuses on teaching laboratory and project-based learning course work. It also focuses on teaching First Year Experience courses and assist students in the transition from high school to post-secondary education. The department is interested in individuals who have a passion for relating engineering technology topics through practical applications to enable students to learn by doing. This position will primarily involve teaching courses in First Year Experience courses for all department majors, Dynamics, and lab experiences for 3D Modeling and Mechanics of Materials. Depending on qualifications there is opportunity to teach other mechanical engineering technology related courses.

Position Responsibilities:
- Emphasis on teaching mechanical engineering technology courses in both lectures and laboratory environments over research and publication activities.
- Work with first year first semester students in transitioning to post-secondary education.
- Classroom management activities that range from laboratory set-up to grading and assessment.
- Academically and professionally advise students.
- Oversee senior projects.
- Potential to be a program coordinator for the Mechanical Engineering Technology ABET accredited programs.
Job Requirements:
Position Minimum Requirements
- Master's degree in mechanical engineering technology, mechanical engineering, or closely related field
- 3 years industrial experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
Position Desired Requirements
- 3 years of industrial experience in mechanical design and manufacturing
- Prior training or teaching experience
- Experience working with First Year students

This applicant will be evaluated by the following criteria: education, industrial experience, engineering technology teaching experience, ability to communicate, certifications and licensure.
