Position Information

High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Preferred candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline
- Coursework or experience in dynamics, vibrations, structures, or experimental methods
- Experience with data analysis and technical documentation using common engineering tools (e.g., spreadsheets, MATLAB, or Python)
- Experience preparing or editing technical reports or presentations
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently in an academic or research environment.
The Lab Assistant provides support for engineering research activities in a dry laboratory environment and assists with related administrative tasks. Responsibilities include helping with routine research and data organization, preparing and editing technical and administrative documents, maintaining records, and supporting faculty with project coordination as assigned. The position requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a professional academic setting.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Knowledge: Basic understanding of dry engineering lab practices and safety; familiarity with undergraduate-level engineering concepts; working knowledge of standard office and productivity software.
Skills: Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; assist with routine engineering research tasks, data organization, and document preparation; strong organizational skills; clear written communication; attention to detail.
Abilities: Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks; meet deadlines with accuracy; communicate professionally; handle sensitive or confidential information appropriately; learn new tools and workflows as needed.

Support faculty with project coordination tasks, including tracking deadlines and compiling required materials.
