Complementing the on-course experience are exceptional practice facilities and a state-of-the-art teaching center with five indoor hitting bays. The instruction program is led by Hall of Fame instructor Mike McGetrick, whose students have achieved a combined 53 worldwide wins and 11 major championships across the PGA and LPGA Tours. This program provides Members with access to one of the most accomplished teaching environments in the game.

Experience Required

* Class A PGA Member in good standing
* Three to five years of experience as an Assistant Golf Professional at a high-level or top-tier private club
* Demonstrated excellence in communication, member engagement, and service
* Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
* Proficiency in Golf Genius, Microsoft Office, and relevant golf-operations systems
* Experience supporting tournament administration, merchandising, and staff leadership

Essential Responsibilities

Robert Trent Jones Golf Club is seeking a First Assistant Golf Professional who brings professionalism, integrity, and a genuine commitment to exceptional service. This individual will play a key role in the daily operation, working closely with the Head Golf Professional to ensure that every aspect of the golf experience reflects the standards, tradition, and quality expected of a world-class club.

 

Serving as the First Assistant at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club carries a unique level of responsibility and opportunity. The Club's history, its prominence within the game, and the expectations of its membership create an environment where a passionate and detail-oriented professional can truly develop. This is a role that extends well beyond support. The individual will be fully immersed in all facets of the operation, gaining meaningful, hands-on experience that is rarely found outside a club of this caliber.

 

For an ambitious professional, this position provides a clear pathway toward becoming a Head Golf Professional. The First Assistant will be directly involved in major tournament operations, merchandising strategy, staff leadership, and the day-to-day decision-making that drives the success of the operation. With that involvement comes trust, responsibility, and the opportunity to grow through real ownership of the role.

 

The ideal candidate will bring a confident yet approachable presence, with the ability to communicate clearly, anticipate needs, and represent the Professional Staff with pride. They will help lead and support the team, contribute to the rhythm and consistency of daily operations, and play an active role in tournament execution, merchandising, and administrative responsibilities. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a steady, composed demeanor will be essential.

 

This position also offers the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with the membership through daily engagement and regular on-course play as a representative of the Club. The First Assistant will help uphold the standards that define RTJGC and will be trusted to act on behalf of the Head Golf Professional when needed, ensuring continuity, professionalism, and confidence across the operation.
