- Commissioner's Orders Legal Description Preparation Assistant (Transportation Specialist)
Description
The position assists in the preparation of commissioner’s orders and legal descriptions used for the acquisition and disposition of real property interests for all projects under the jurisdiction of the Department of Transportation; reviews maps and plats with reference to commissioner’s orders legal descriptions need; serves as a technical advisor to other staff in the districts and others throughout the department; and provides accurate, precise orders and descriptions that support the department’s program delivery schedule, together with appropriate turnback, conveyance, and other preparation assignments.

Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Four years of experience performing right-of-way activities that included utilizing computer-aided drafting and design; OR
- Three years of experience performing design, pre-design, survey or right-of-way activities PLUS a combination of one year of related experience in surveys, design, road maintenance, materials/soils, permits, etc. Three of the four years must include the use of computer-aided drafting and design (CADD).
AND
- Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak and understand oral and written information; communicate with employees and the public in-person or via two-way radio and other electronic devices; and to maintain routine written logs and simple records.
Please note: A Two year Civil or Construction Technology or the following four-year degrees: Architectural, Civil or Mechanical Engineering; Land Surveying / Geomatics; or equivalent may substitute for one year of experience. For education coursework to be considered in lieu of work experience, you must submit a copy of your transcripts.
