Description
The Office of Enrollment Management (OEM) at Indiana University (IU) Bloomington is dedicated to attracting, enrolling, and supporting a community of talented students from Indiana, across the nation, and around the world. OEM integrates strategic planning, data-informed decision-making, and collaborative partnerships across campus to create a seamless student experience - from first contact through graduation. Through its units - Admissions, Scholarships, the Registrar, Student Financial Assistance, Student Central, Orientation and Enrollment Programs, Retention, Planning and Research, Enrollment Marketing and Communications, Administration and Fiscal Affairs, and Development - OEM advances the university's mission by fostering access, belonging, and student success while upholding IU Bloomington's tradition of academic excellence and public service.The Office of Admissions (ADMS) is the front-facing department to the public for undergraduate recruitment for the IU Bloomington campus. The Office of Admissions is responsible for recruiting the freshman class each year, counseling prospective students and their families about the admissions process, providing accurate information to the public about our recruiting requirements and standards, and marketing IU Bloomington.
Job Summary
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Provides 1-on-1 college admissions and financial aid advisement to students
- Helps students complete and submit admissions and financial aid applications
- Presents in classrooms, assemblies, and student organization meetings over the importance of post-secondary education and services advisers provide
- Organizes events and activities to promote post-secondary education
- Collaborates with school personnel to promote the college-going culture at the high school
- Oversees the processing and evaluation of all applications for admissions into that school and accompanying material, such as transcripts, to determine eligibility
- Maintains records and databases of applications; updates and purges as necessary; gathers and collates information from records and prepares reports
- Reviews applications for completeness, contacts applicants for any missing information or to resolve discrepancies, and obtains any necessary information from other sources
- Schedules and oversees any applicant interviews
- Makes recommendations regarding admissions and financial aid decisions; contacts applicant regarding the decision on the admission application
- Responds to phone and email inquiries on admissions process and status of applications; may assist in the design of recruiting events and materials
- Counsels potential students regarding courses and grades required for admission
- May supervise temporary staff in the admissions office; monitors and evaluates job performance
- Maintains files and databases on students admitted into the school; generates reports based on this information
- May take on escalated and complex issues; may provide guidance to other admissions staff

EDUCATION
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)

- 4 years of office or related experience

Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Additional Information
IUB College Access Advisors (CAAs) serve as key members of the student support team, working primarily during the week with occasional weekend commitments. Their schedules may shift slightly during peak times, such as the summer, to align with program needs. They are assigned a caseload of students and are charged with providing 1-on-1 advising, academic support, and mentorship, while also leading or co-leading programs for students and families.
This role may occasionally require evening or weekend availability to support events or respond to time-sensitive student concerns.
Work Location
The person in this role will be assigned to an Indiana High School.
This is an in-person position.
