- Assistant Teaching Professor of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University, located in Ames, Iowa invites candidates to apply for two term faculty teaching positions at the Assistant Teaching Professor rank. Responsibilities include large, in-person introductory courses as well as advanced undergraduate courses; course assignments may evolve over time and may include online teaching.
The initial teaching assignments are two courses per semester and service work within the department, which may focus on issues of TA management, undergraduate affairs, and other parts of the life of the department and the college. The successful candidates will have excellent teaching and communications skills and provide effective and welcoming learning experiences for students. Teaching faculty are fully integrated into the department with voting rights on all matters, save for a few such as the granting of tenure.
Each position is a 9-month appointment with an initial length of 3 years, starting August 16, 2026. Renewal parameters are determined by performance and department need. Opportunities for teaching summer courses, either in person or online, are often available.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.

The Central Science, Chemistry is the link that connects problems in the fundamental nature of matter to the most complex problems in the processes of life. Requirements
Required Minimum Qualifications:
PhD in chemistry or a closely related area by the time of appointment
Teaching experience at the university level
Preferred Qualifications:
Teaching experience as the instructor of record in chemistry at the university level
Experience managing teaching assistants (TAs)
Ability or willingness to teach or revise online courses
