The Fredericksburg Country Club is a private club nestled on the banks of the Rappahannock River, located 50 miles south of Washington, D.C. Founded in 1925, the Fredericksburg Country Club is considered the area's best family-oriented club and is truly a "home away from home," providing a safe and secure recreational environment for members and guests. The club features championship golf, casual & fine dining, indoor & outdoor racquet sports, an athletic facility, and an aquatics center. The club currently has over 500 memberships and has hosted a number of prestigious events, including the Virginia State Open, VSGA Senior Championship, and, in 2026, the VSGA Super-Senior Championship.

The City of Fredericksburg is an Independent City, well known for its historic heritage as a focus of activity during the Colonial and Civil War eras. Fredericksburg has a population of approximately 27,945 people. However, that number is greatly augmented by the number of tourists and visitors drawn to the historic sites and shopping venues in and around the city. Our downtown features chef-owned bars and restaurants, art galleries and studios, and antique and specialty shops, making it a truly distinctive shopping and dining experience. Fredericksburg residents enjoy the services typically found in larger cities, including award-winning schools and neighborhoods within walking distance of downtown.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Assistant Golf Professional is responsible for promoting the game of golf and being an integral part of the golf operations team at Fredericksburg Country Club. The successful candidate will assist the PGA Head Golf Professional in all aspects of daily golf department management, including, but not limited to, staff management, tournament operations, player development, junior golf, and merchandising.

Experience Required

• 1-3 Years Private Club Experience Preferred
• PGA Member or Associate Preferred
• Previous experience with Golf Genius and GHIN handicap program is required.
• Efficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Publisher).
• Strong playing ability.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Willingness to work long hours and weekends on major tournament weeks.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assist the PGA Head Golf Professional in all areas of daily golf department management.
• Act as an ambassador by welcoming members and guests to the club upon arrival.
• Manage the daily tee sheet and collect appropriate fees for member and guest rounds.
• Assist in the management of all member and guest golf tournaments.
• This position will play a role in a growing merchandise concession and will assist the Merchandise Manager with hard goods purchasing, social media, and conducting monthly inventory reports.
• Perform club fittings as needed.
• Provide private golf instruction, teach beginner ladies, and assist with the club's junior golf program.
• Playing golf with members and guests weekly, as time permits.
• Performs other duties as needed around the club, including outside services; however, this position will be primarily focused on the overall management of the golf operation.

Benefits

• The club will compensate the selected candidate a salary of $47,000 to $52,000 that is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Also, additional income will be available through private golf instruction for players of all skill levels, beginner ladies' programs, and junior golf development (currently 35-45 juniors in our program)
• Total Anticipated Compensation is $60,000+/Year

• Golf Shop is Closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day (all with pay)
