Great Oaks founded in 1971 and nestled in the rolling hills of Oakland County, in the heart of Rochester, Michigan. Great Oaks Country Club is one of metro Detroit's best kept secrets. In 1971 Great Oaks Country Club was opened featuring the famous McGregor Mansion as the Clubhouse. With continued growth the mansion was replaced with current 43,000 square foot clubhouse in 1989. Since then Great Oaks has become the social hub of Rochester and the only private family-centric, truly member owned club in the area. Great Oaks championship golf course was the vision of renowned course architect William Newcomb. The Club has over 500 members, including 365 golf members, and plays approximately 22,000 annual rounds. Great Oaks Country Club is looking for the right individual to join the existing team to enhance the private club experience we offer our patrons. The PGA Assistant Golf Professional plays a pivotal role in delivering an exceptional golf experience to members and guests. This individual supports all aspects of golf operations, including tournament coordination, merchandising, and member engagement, while upholding the club's commitment to excellence and personalized service.

This position will offer the opportunity to learn and enhance your professional skills in all areas of the operation. Several of our past assistant professionals have moved on from Great Oaks to Head Golf Professional positions, reflecting the strength of our mentorship and training. Serious candidates should have interest furthering their career in the golf business and a will to develop skills in all areas of the golf operation.

This will position with have a start date in March.

Experience Required

• PGA Associate or Class A Member (preferred)
• 1-3 years experience in private club or upscale golf operations
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficiency with Club Essential POS, Golf Genius, and social media platforms
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
• Passion for golf and commitment to member satisfaction

Essential Responsibilities

Member & Guest Experience

• Provide warm, professional service to members and guests at all times
• Assist with greeting our players, club policy adherence, and pace-of-play monitoring
• Serve as on-course ambassador, ensuring etiquette and enjoyment

Tournament & Event Management

• Assist in planning and executing member tournaments, outings, and leagues
• Prepare scorecards, cart signs, pairings, and results
• Ensure timely communication and flawless event execution focusing on the details

Merchandising & Retail

• Support inventory management, visual merchandising, and sales in our newly renovated golf shop
• Monitor product performance and member preferences
• Manage custom orders with detail and communication to ensure member satisfaction

Instruction & Player Development

• Conduct private lessons, group clinics, and junior golf programs
• Support PGA programming and player development initiatives

Operations & Leadership

• Supervise outside services staff and golf shop personnel
• Open and close the golf shop, ensuring security and cleanliness
• Uphold club policies and contribute to a culture of professionalism
