Description
OverviewThe Assistant Golf Professional is responsible for providing support in all areas of the golf operation. This includes tournament operations, league management, golf shop sales and merchandising, and daily outside customer service operations. In particular, CommonGround is seeking someone with additional experience in communications and merchandising. This includes fostering strong relationships with league members, guests, and CommonGround and CGA staff, using various digital and traditional channels. This role's responsibility also includes serving as the lead for merchandise purchases, organizing, planning and inventory management.

Experience Required
- Experience in Golf Management, communications, or a related field is often preferred, along with experience in golf operations or marketing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficiency with golf management software and digital marketing tools, and a deep understanding of the game and club operations.
- Proficiency in using various communication and management software, such as ForeTees , Golf Genius, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Actively pursuing or holding a PGA membership is often a requirement, demonstrating a commitment to the profession and its standards.
- Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, conflict resolution skills, and the capacity to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
- Ability to work a schedule that requires flexibility and availability to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
Essential Responsibilities
Golf Operations Management
- As part of the management team, supervise hourly/seasonal staff performing pro shop, outside services and golf cart job responsibilities.
- Assist with the execution of golf tournaments and events in conjunction with the Event Manager.
- In conjunction with Director of Golf, develop new strategies for managing the Short Course operations and programming activities.
- Assist with the execution of golf tournaments and events in conjunction with the Event Manager.
- Assist with GHIN handicap system maintenance.
Communications
- Develop compelling content for social media, facility websites, and communications to promote events, programs, and facility news with the goal of improving posting consistency and increasing followers on social platforms.
- Maintain the clubhouse messaging monitors with timely communication that highlight key association initiatives and programs and integrate with social media content.
- Work with Director of Golf to implement a first tee communication program for starters that informs customers of the CGA's ownership of the course and highlighted programs.
Merchandising
- In conjunction with the Director of Golf, manage the merchandising operation including inventory.
- Maintain retail presentation on the golf shop floor, ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers.
- Coordinate and promote Fitting Day events to provide opportunities for customers to experience and purchase golf equipment.
- Oversee and fulfill special merchandise orders for league members, annual pass holders, and other key constituents.
League Management
- Assist with the management of assigned leagues that play at CommonGround including league play days and events.
- Participate as a coach in the CommonGround's PGA Jr. League Program.
