- Assistant Engagement Producer
Description
FERN, an award-winning non-profit news organization, has been producing independent, non-profit journalism at the intersection of food, agriculture, and the environment for well over a decade. FERN is prioritizing its connections to readers, viewers, and listeners who want to engage with our content. Innovative use of our social media channels is a key component of that effort. We are currently seeking a highly creative, highly motivated self-starter to fill the Assistant Engagement Producer role. This role includes creating multimedia content for FERN’s social media channels, podcast production for audio and video, helping to create and post content across FERN’s social media/audience platforms, and monitoring daily activity on those platforms, including audience listening and analysis.
Requirements
- Two or more years of experience producing video and audio content, such as Instagram reels and YouTube shorts.
- Fluency in multimedia tools, such as Descript, Photoshop, Canva, ProTools, AfterEffects, and/or Premiere.
- Comfort working in a virtual environment. Able to communicate well via messaging, as well as in video calls.
- Strong organization skills. Must be able to manage and organize multiple projects.
- Passion and enthusiasm for food and agriculture issues, and for reaching and engaging new and existing audiences.
Preferred
- Experience in social media in a professional capacity.
- Experience in a remote work environment.
- Experience in a social media role at a non-profit or news organization.
- Knowledge of, and interest in developing social media content creation workflows and automation.
This is a full-time (5 days, 40-hr work week) fully remote position with benefits. You will report to FERN’s Audience Engagement Editor. FERN is a virtual organization and the FERN team is predominantly based in the Eastern Time zone. Internationally-based applicants will not be considered.
