About This Role
HCCCs Hudson Hub One Stop Student Services Center (Hudson Hub) houses student services related to enrollment, registration, financial aid, student accounts, and continuing education and workforce development. It is designed to streamline and enhance the student experience. Under the supervision of the Director of the Hudson Hub, with a dotted reporting line to the Director or Dean of the specialized/functional office, the Assistant Director maintains expertise in Student Accounts and provides high-level student support requiring such expertise.
The Assistant Director possesses a deep knowledge base of their respective functional office and supports Student Services Assistants in handling complex student service situations. The Assistant Director can make decisions about their area of expertise and/or escalate issues to the Director or Dean of the respective functional area. To promote operational excellence, the Assistant Director will help implement process improvement systems specific to One-Stop Student Services Center operations. This role focuses on streamlining services, efficiently resolving issues, and enhancing existing procedures. Responsibilities may include overseeing new policy implementation, optimizing resource utilization, and supporting overall administrative effectiveness.
What Youll Do:
- Handles complicated student service tasks that require functional expertise.
- Provides leadership in the One Stop in the absence of or in coordination with the Director.
- Makes decisions on complex student issues to ensure students receive superior service, while maintaining compliance with college policies.
- Supports Student Service Assistants with functional expertise and decision-making ability.
- Acts as a liaison between the Hudson Hub and Directors/Deans of functional areas to ensure information is shared in a timely manner and appropriate training takes place.
- Collaborates with other campus offices to create and implement integrated support strategies, enhancing the student experience across various touchpoints.
- Attends annual conferences, workshops, and online training programs relevant to student services and higher education administration, fostering continuous learning and improvement.
- Provides regular training and updates to Student Services Assistants on functional area(s) of expertise.
- Trains, assists, and mentors peer leaders and part-timers working in the One Stop.
- Assesses and makes recommendations to improve the student experience.
- In partnership with the Hudson Hub Director and the Dean/Director of the specialized department, the Assistant Director plays a key role in both short- and long-term strategic planning initiatives that advance the College's mission.
- Stays current and communicates Federal and State regulations, FERPA compliance, and College policies to students and parents, ensuring transparency and adherence to all relevant guidelines.
- Ensures materials, web pages, and student communications are updated regularly.
- Effectively de-escalates student service issues.
- Performs duties related to their respective functional area of expertise as appropriate.
- Participates in campus events and committees, including Open Houses and Registration Events.
- Remains flexible with work hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Other duties as assigned.
What Youll Need:
- Bachelors degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, multi-task, and work with a diverse population.
- Experience training staff on tasks related to functional expertise.
- Experience working in a busy, fast-paced, customer service-oriented environment.

Preferred Requirements
- Masters degree in a relevant area (Student Affairs, Counseling, Higher Education Administration, or a related field).
- Bilingual in Spanish or Arabic.
- Experience with Ellucian Systems, including Colleague and Recruit, as well as EAB Navigate and Laserfiche.
- Experience working in one or more functional areas: S tudent Accounts, Financial Aid, Enrollment Services, Registrar, Continuing Education and Workforce Development.
