- Assistant Creative Director of Television
Description
This is a non-state service (x-16) position. This is a supervisory position that manages projects through all stages of television production: from initial development and pre-production planning to execution/production, post-production, and final delivery. Duties include developing programs, collaborating with production and post-production management on how to plan for and deliver programs on time, managing daily oversight of production team, and managing complex logistics. This position is responsible for providing strategic creative direction for current and developing programs in fields such as educational content, documentaries, travel and food series, public affairs, event coverage, and live studio-based productions. While a supervisory position, the chosen candidate will also be a hands-on member of the production team in research, budgeting, writing, producing, field directing, and video editing. This position will require in-state travel and ability to work outdoors. Weekend and holiday work may be required. Ability to perform moderate lifting (up to 35-50 pounds) is required. EOE M - F
What you'll need to be Successful:
- Typically requires a bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8+ years of experience.
- Agency Preferred: Leadership experience in public broadcasting, non-commercial/educational or mission-driven media production.
- Ideal candidate should have the ability to be self-directed, with a sense of urgency, even when deadlines are not immediate.
- Ability to proactively identify and solve complex logistical and creative problems without direct supervision.
- Ability to oversee and execute the visual quality of productions, including advanced skills as a videographer and editor, with knowledge of lighting for studio and remote shoots.
- Strong interpersonal and written communications and listening skills.
- Decisive leader, tenacious go-getter, deadline-oriented finisher, and hands-on creative professional who thrives in a mission-driven media environment.
- The creative director should have a variety of interests, be excited about sharing with audiences, and a curiosity about people, places and things of Mississippi to then share through storytelling.
- Expert-level skills in all aspects of video production with videography and editing.
- Knowledge of motion graphics and lighting techniques for diverse production environments.
- Ability to manage timelines and multiple projects simultaneously.
- High-level conceptual and visual storytelling skills.
- Skilled in pre-production planning, program outlines, and scriptwriting.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud tools, specifically Premiere Pro, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe’s Illustrator, and Photoshop.
