- Assistant Camp Director
Description
MathPath, an international residential summer program for 11-14 year olds highly gifted in mathematics, seeks to fill the position of Assistant Camp Director (ACD) for the MathPath 2026 session. The person in this position will work closely with the Camp Director, Student Life Director, and other Senior Staff of MathPath. Base Compensation for this position will be $8000 (USD), plus room, board, and reasonable travel expenses to/from the program session. This is a seasonal, one-year position.
Most of the work for this position will be done during the program (June 23, 2026 – July 29, 2026), during which time the Assistant Camp Director must be living on-campus along with the other staff and faculty. The successful candidate will participate in monthly senior staff meetings beginning when they are hired through August 2026. There will be significant preparation and wrap-up work that will need to be done remotely, starting in March (or upon hiring) and extending through August. The Base Compensation may be pro-rated by date-of-hire.
Job Duties (primary)
- As needed, assist Camp Director (or other relevant Senior Staff) with
- Hiring, training and supervision of senior staff assistants and counselors
- Communication with parents & facilitating on-site parent visits
- Coordinating Sunday/Monday field trips
- Mid-program arrivals & departures of faculty & staff
- Student spending money accounts
- Mid-camp and end-of-camp student survey data
- Other duties of Camp Director (or other relevant Senior Staff)
- Substitute as Camp Director when CD is unavailable/off-campus
- Plan all-camp Monday evening activities for students with support from SSAs
- Serve as primary on-call driver when students require transportation to off-site doctor
Job Duties (of all Senior Staff)
- Drive rental vans or cars, such as for weekend student trips, running errands, etc
- Participate in on-call rotation for urgent/emergent situations on-campus
- Be familiar with the host institution and the on-campus facilities used by MathPath, including any policies that may affect MathPath
- Be familiar with MathPath policies/practices

Requirements
Required Skills
- Excellent organizational & interpersonal skills
- Fluency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc) and GoogleSuite (Sheets, Docs, Slides, etc)
- Confidence in working autonomously
- First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain certification at direction and cost of MathPath)
- Willingness to ask questions for guidance when uncertain
Preferred Skills
- Previous work experience with a summer program or in a Residential Life department
- Experience working with gifted students
- Experience as a First Aid-trained staff member
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage stress and strain in a work environment
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Eligibility to drive a rental car in the US (age 25 or older, valid driver’s license, good driving record)
- Eligibility to work in the United States; ONE of the following:
- US citizenship
- Hold a US Resident Alien card
- Possess or obtain at candidate’s expense a US work permit that does not expire until after the final date of employment (July 30, 2026)
- Candidate must pass a background check before employment, including a driving record check
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics or related field
- Interest/passion for puzzles/mathematics
