NC State University's Academic Support Program for Student-Athletes (ASPSA) is recruiting our next talented cohort for our 2026-2027 internship program.
We are hiring for the following positions:

Recognized in 2013 as an N4A Model Practice, this full-time internship provides a comprehensive hands-on experience focused on building expertise and preparing individuals to excel in future full-time athletic academic support positions. ASPSA interns will have high-impact responsibilities, focused on facilitating academic student success plans and contributing to ASPSA's core day-to-day operations. Requirements
Full time internship: June 22nd, 2026 - May 14th, 2027
Minimum Experience/Education
-Bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from an accredited college or university, or must have completed all requirements for master’s degree with the exception of internship completion
-Experience supervising young adults in an educational setting.

-Must have excellent written, verbal, analytical, and listening skills.
-Must be able to effectively communicate task and internship-related needs to primary and secondary supervisors and other staff members.
-Must be able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
-Must have computer software application skills to develop written reports.
-Must be attentive to detail and accurate in record keeping.
-Must be able to teach academic success strategies.
-Must have conflict management and interpersonal skills that maximize success in communicating with students who have a wide range of academic backgrounds.
-Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including at least 1-2 evenings per week and most Sundays during the semester.
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
-Completed a master’s degree in the fields of education, higher education administration or leadership, college student personnel, psychology, sociology, and/or sport management
-At least one year of work experience in an academic support for athletics setting
-A sincere interest in athletic academic counseling as a profession
-Basic knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations, particularly in the areas of initial and continuing eligibility
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-Supervise and monitor student-athletes, tutors, and mentors in daytime and evening structured study hall environments
-Facilitation of reports for multiple areas
-Work closely with tutorial and mentoring program staff to set up and oversee group and one-on-one tutorial and mentoring sessions
-Determine the academic support needs of an assigned group of student-athletes
-Co-teach University Studies Courses (USC)
-Assist in the day-to-day operation of at least one auxiliary area, including class attendance policy and USC curriculum.
-Assist in engaging student-athletes in the course selection and registration process.
-Design and present training to tutors and mentors on topics related to increasing effectiveness in working with students.
-Participate in staff training and mandatory orientations on a variety of subjects related to academic support
-Assist with presentations made to prospective student-athletes during on-campus visits.
