Description
OverviewBaton Rouge Country Club, established in 1916, is a traditional, private equity, family oriented social club. The club enjoys a membership of over 1000. The golf program at Baton Rouge Country Club is active and well praised by the membership. The program includes various clinics, private lessons, and established tournaments. The golf course was originally designed by Tom Bendelow and renovated in 2007 by Rees Jones. Currently, the club is in the planning phase of an extensive renovation project that will be led by the architecture firm of OCM. Baton Rouge Country Club is a founding member of the Louisiana Golf Association, and the course has played host to several amateur and professional competitions throughout its history.
The First Assistant Professional will report directly to the Head Golf Professional and will assist the Head Professional inoverseeing all aspects of Golf Operations, while playing a central role in delivering a first-class golf experience. The role is hands-on and highly visible, requiring a self motivated leader who excels in a fast-paced operation, builds quick rapport with members and guests, and embraces the culture of a high-end private club in a traditional setting.
Experience Required
This position requires a dynamic, service-oriented, leader with a passion for the game of golf, a commitment to excellence, and a proven track record of excelling in high-performance golf operations. The candidate must have a positive 'team first' attitude, willingness to learn, strong work ethic, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a spirit to serve.
A college degree is preferred, but not required.
Class A PGA and/or LPGA Membership is required.
The candidate must have a minimum of four years of experience as an Assistant Professional in a high-end private club environment.
Technical expertise with Golf Genius and extensive tournament operations experience is a must.
The candidate should expect to move onto a Head Professional position within 2-4 years.
Essential Responsibilities
The First Assistant Golf Professional will work closely with the Head Golf Professional to provide the membership experience worthy of Baton Rouge Country Club. This role will assume all responsibility of the golf operation in the absence of the Head Golf Professional. The First Assistant Golf Professional will be a leader amongst the four Assistant Golf Professionals and display characteristics that demonstrate southern hospitality at its finest, such as the following:
- Providing the highest level of customer service, but going beyond customer service to build strong relationships with the members to be able to service and anticipate their needs Passionate about hospitality as it specifically pertains to the business of golf

- Personal drive and devotion to advance their career to the next level

- Professional level communication and accountability
- Able to work as a team for the greater good of the membership and all staff
In addition to hiring a person with the attributes stated previously, this individual will be responsible for the following areas of the operation:
- Execute the major member events such as the Member-Guest and Member-Member which includes but is not limited to leading the staff and handling all financials
- Assist Head Golf Professional in the buying, receiving, and displaying of merchandise
- Manage daily operations such as the tee sheet, weekly men's and ladies' events, starting, marshaling and daily member needs
- Communicate with other departments to coordinate golf activities
- Assist Director of Player Development with group clinic series
- Play golf with all demographics of membership
- Assist in hiring, training, and managing staff
